Maria Caudill came in 3rd in Post 3 results Tuesday evening Congratulations to first time candidate Maria Caudill, who ran a very good campaign for the Oconee County Board of Commissioners Post 3 (but came up a little short with 892 votes, a solid 20% of the electorate), OC Commission, Post 3 Margaret S. Hale — 1,787 (41.61%) W.E. "Bubber" Wilkes — 1,616 (37.63%) Maria Caudill — 892 (20.77%) 13 of 13 precincts reporting and now Margaret Hale needs to make her and Peggy Holcomb her new best friends for at least the next two months. Margaret is a very nice person, open to discussion on any ideas, and always willing to explain her point of view even if you do not agree with her. I do not know if there will be any formal endorsements, but I am sure there will be lots of conversations and considerations of which candidate is worthy of your support in two long hot months from now. Bubber led the results early, with Margaret taking over the race later in the even

Phillip Whiteman talks historical program of interest to Sons of Confederate Veterans

From: psommer Date:05/21/2014 9:19 AM (GMT-05:00) Subject: a historical program of interest "Charged with Treason: The Ordeal of the Roswell Mill Workers" will be the title of a program by Phillip Whiteman at the meeting of the Brig. Gen. T.R.R. Cobb Camp No. 97 Sons of Confederate Veterans Thursday June 5 at 7:00 p.m. at the Watkinsville Community Center VFW  Drive.   In July 1864, during the Federal march on Atlanta, Union troops entered the town of Roswell and burned three textile mills.  Under explicit orders from Gen. W. T. Sherman about 400 civilian mill workers, mostly women and children, were abducted and transported to Marietta; from there they were transported north and the fate of most of them remains unknown.  Whiteman is the Park Historian for the Kennesaw National Battlefield.

Only 1,572 early votes in two Oconee County Georgia advance voting locations - school is open tomorrow Primary Election Day

Out of 21,939 active voters currently registered in Oconee County, Georgia in 2014, a mere 1,572 people took advantage of the early voting at the Board of Elections office next to the Courthouse and at the Civic Center for the final week out on Hog Mountain Road. School will be in session tomorrow, making parking worse in all instances. Tomorrow, Tuesday, May 20, 2014 is the Primary Election and voters would go to their USUAL polling sites, which are all over the county and generally very close to the address where you were registered. which include: Oconee County, GA Precincts Oconee County Government Annex 1291 Greensboro Hwy. Glad that I can agree with his widow on who the least reprehensible Republican congressional candidate is Norwood: Simpson is choice for 10th District
