Disappointingly small turnout for Monday candidates forum

Maybe two dozen people came out to the Oconee County Library on Columbus Day night for a candidates forum featuring the people vying to represent Oconee County in public office November 4th. Sherry Jackson and Bill Cowsert took questions from the audience for the District 46 State Senate race while Rick Clark and Tom Breedlove took questions in the Board of Education race. Tom Leach took questions in the Board of Commissioners chair race without opposition of incumbent G. Melvin Davis.

Chairman Davis garners write-in opposition in Christian cement truck driver Tom Leach

Self-described "Christian" cement truck driver and write in candidate Tom Leach takes on Melvin Davis in the last gasp protest against pouring beer and wine in restaurants in unincorporated Oconee County. Maybe someone should tell Mr. Leach that no restaurants outside of Watkinsville have applied for the evil spirits to be poured. Maybe Satan told the Church lady who attends Leach's church.
