Dale Russell report on Oxendine activity on behalf of major financial contributor in Clayton County

Georgia Republican gubernatorial candidate John Oxendine has been linked to an extra marital affair back in Jasper through a reliable source of mine and using the influence of his office for a variety of sleazy activity. Will any of these charges stick and sink his ship before the primary next week? At this point I do not think so, but it could certainly torch his chances in November. This report from the I Team's Dale Russell is nothing shocking or new, except in how fast it came down once the publicity glare got a little too shiny for the particulars involved. The truth is donations do grant access to campaigns and politicians.

This will make the Ga. GOP Gov. race get a whole lot closer inside of a month from the Primary

Wonders what is up with the media and the Watkinsville police officer's house arson?

I realize that a fire set at 3:47 am Sunday morning might be occurring at the most inopportune time possible for the sleepy Athens and Oconee County media and bloggers, but I am somewhat astonished that no one else - not the Banner-Herald, not the Enterprise and no other bloggers - have picked up on the apparent arson of the Watkinsville police officer William Horton's golf cart, car, and house in very near Main Street in downtown? I came home from Atlanta late Mother's Day afternoon and after watching some NBA playoff basketball was somewhat surprised to see Watkinsville Police Chief Lee O'Dillon talking about one of his own on the evening news out of Atlanta. Apparently WSB TV was the only one of the three Atlanta television news channels to send a reporter to Oconee County as the other two pretty much rehashed the Associated Press reports with the offer of the $10,000.00 reward from State Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine's office. But again I am somewhat disturbe...

Oxendine: Georgia will not participate in health insurance pool  | ajc.com

So let's review, shall we? Mired in its worst economic downturn since the depression, the Insurance Commissioner-cum-candidate for Republican nominee for Governor John Oxendine will not allow the people of his state of Georgia select insurance from a Federally mandated pool designed to give a relatively small slice of the non-insured some option. That noise you are hearing are the last rats scurrying off the increasingly fast sinking ship of the SS G.O.P. in Georgia.  Even stalwart conservative blogger Erick Erickson seems to agree with me on this obituary . Trigger happy Oxendine wants to sue now

And this from the man who wants to be our Governor; the contempt speaks for itself Oxendine: Georgia should sue Federal Government I am very disappointed that the House decided to pass a bill that was overwhelmingly rejected by the American people. This bill’s passage will place unfunded mandates on our state budget and significantly increase the cost of insurance on Georgia’s families. This plan is nothing more than a shell game that will also harm patients, doctors, nurses—essentially the entire healthcare workforce, because it puts the federal government in charge of healthcare reform. I agree with National Right to Life’s assessment that the bill is riddled with provisions that will result in federal subsidies for private insurance plans that cover abortion. The bill also has direct federal funding of abortion through Community Health Centers, and pro-abortion federal administrative mandates. I urge our legislature to act quickly to pass a bill that requires the state’s...

Athens' own Tim Echols get kicked to the curb as the Campaign Manager for the The Ox

Looks like the soon to be former Insurance Commissioner is looking for another person to blame for his horribly run campaign. Local conservative activist and TeenPAC promoter Tim Echols will work on ways to make Georgia even more backward in the eyes of America instead. Barnes has big bucks in Governor's race, and Johnathan McGinty is quoted

The Georgia Governor's race appears to be more and more a Roy Barnes versus John Oxendine match if the money and tainted poll results are any indication. Georgians have been known to revolt from the conventional wisdom.  I would rather have a Team Porter ticket vs. a Handel-Cagle on the G.O.P. side.
