Wanted: MORE Democratic candidates for public office in Oconee County and the 10th District of Georgia

The Oconee County Democratic Committee met once again this evening, and it is basically the same set of folks lamenting our lack of candidates for the same set of offices time and time again. Who would like to run against semi-permanently entrenched incumbents State Representative Bob Smith or Congressman Paul Broun? We will help you run, canvass, campaign and host events for your campaign. Many interesting names get tossed around at meetings such as these, and frustrations can sometimes bare fruit. All the yard sales and Adopt-a-Road clean ups cannot create one candidate if the local churches still shun us like lepers, so the idea of a church tour (or garden tour or home tour or history tour) was discussed well into the night. The more outreach in to the actual community, the better for all concerned. More than $1,000.00 was raised by some 16 people on both sides of the aisle during the successful Saturday Stroll series. Nearly than much again was raised during two soggy Saturda...

Brief business meeting Dec. 4 at 6:30 pm prior to Christmas Party at Becky Vaughn's house in Jennings Mill in Bogart

For those of you coming to the annual Oconee County Democratic Committee Christmas Holiday meeting, you can come at 7 pm if you do not want to hear the votes and business discussions in the early part (6:30 pm) of the meeting on Meriweather Drive in Bogart. I would strongly suggest taking Jimmy Daniel Road to the back end of the Jennings Mill Golf and Country Club. Coming from State Highway 316 toward Bogart and away from Watkinsville, you would take a right on Meriweather Drive and it is the second or third house on the right. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: best of the best on Obama's election Date: Wed, 19 Nov 2008 06:03:56 -0500 From: Rich Rusk <richrusk@bellsouth.net> To: <Undisclosed-Recipient:;>   Dear Moores Ford friends...and special friends,    Janice and I continue to marvel over the impact that Barack Obama's election has had on our lives. We simply cannot get over it.    I have been reading voraciously since November 5 and have enclosed three articles and one cartoon - sent by my brother Dave - that had a special impact. The impact of Obama's election on Kenyans is especially fascinating.    To quote Garrison Keilor (see more below),   "The French junior minister for human rights said, 'On this morning, we all want to be American so we can take a bite of this dream unfolding before our eyes.'"    Our nex...

More from Moore's Ford re-enactment

Moore's Ford has forever stained the Walton-Oconee county border with the indelible stain of racism. Rich Rusk and friends invite you to their Christmas festivities December 1. The following video re-enactment they had nothing to do with in terms of staging, but it gives you a good idea of why racial reconciliation is so important. Keep in mind the following is an invitation from Rich and the Moore's Ford Memorial Committee and goes on here in Watkinsville Dear Moores Ford friends and invited guests, Please attend our 11th Annual Moores Ford Christmas Party.
