10 am Saturday open house at Heritage Park historic structures

Please attend or lend a hand or donation to this Oconee County Historical Committee endeavor with the open house at the Central Schoolhouse, tenant house and Rose Hill home in Heritage Park in southern Oconee County.

Hi,
            We have agreed to hold an open house of the 3 buildings that are currently part of Heritage Park.  We agreed to gather at 9:30 so we could get organized before the event started at 10:00.  If you can come join us for any part of the day it would be very much appreciated.  The event ends at 1.
            According to my notes from last night here is a list of things people have agreed to do:
            Richard will print out more copies of the flyer about Central Schoolhouse and fix a bucket and sign for collecting donations for the hayride.
            Lisa and Peggy will see if they can locate the short summary that was prepared last time about the cabin.
            Lisa will also send out the word to the DAR to see if anyone there wants to come help with activities at the cabin.
            Peggy will bring copies of our print, note cards and the banner.
            Anyone interested in helping Richard draw up a plan for places to put possible future historical buildings at Heritage Park will meet at his Elder Farm home (4841 Colham Ferry Road) at 2.  Brent, Ben and Peggy are on the committee but anyone who is interested is welcome.

Jeff Dantzler's arrests may be the best thing that ever happened to him

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Any one who has listened to 960 the Ref AM sports talk radio or heard the UGA Lady Dawgs or men's baseball team has surely heard the encyclopedic knowledge of one Jeff Dantzler. Jeff and I are pretty much diametrically opposed poltically, but today he was arrested on four counts including DUI. I hope he gets the help he needs following his incarceration. I work for a lawyer who could help him out if he does not having someone already representing him. This man is a great broadcaster and I hope this arrest serves as a wake-up call for him and his rock and roll lifestyle. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

The booking photo is not to be placed on any web page that charges a fee for booking photo removal. Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
