We need your help Saturday morning at the Watkinsville Christmas parade

If you know how to help hitch a wagon, or have ever dealt with decorating carriages in a Christmas manner, or can help with two HUGE Belgian mares, or just want to walk or ride a bike, we want you to come to Watkinsville sometime between 9 am and 10:45 or so Saturday morning. We will be on Barnett Shoals Road (THE WATKINSVILLE PORTION!!!) somewhere between the offices of the Oconee Enterprise and Southwire/Anaconda/American Cable in slot number ..48. This is a Christmas parade, and we are a partisan political committee designed to bring the Democratic party back to power in Oconee County, Georgia. We will have lots of people on bikes, trikes, scooters, etc. My cell phone is 706-372-1062 and I live about three blocks from our place of taking off. Look for lots of ladies in blue hats or Oconee Democrats t-shirts. The parade starts at 11 am, and should go down Main Street between Town Center and Eagle Tavern. The bikes will ride behind the horse-drawn carriage and poop scooping people (me) so as not to spook the large beasts.

Jeff Dantzler's arrests may be the best thing that ever happened to him

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Any one who has listened to 960 the Ref AM sports talk radio or heard the UGA Lady Dawgs or men's baseball team has surely heard the encyclopedic knowledge of one Jeff Dantzler. Jeff and I are pretty much diametrically opposed poltically, but today he was arrested on four counts including DUI. I hope he gets the help he needs following his incarceration. I work for a lawyer who could help him out if he does not having someone already representing him. This man is a great broadcaster and I hope this arrest serves as a wake-up call for him and his rock and roll lifestyle. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
