SECRETARY OF STATE CATHY COX TO BE HONORED BY CLARKE COUNTY DEMOCRATIC
COMMITTEE, MARCH 11

Second in a series of events to recognize and honor Democratic state
leaders, the Clarke County Democratic Committee (CCDC) is pleased to
host a
luncheon to thank Secretary of State Cathy Cox for her leadership. The
luncheon, scheduled for Saturday, March 11 at noon, will be held in the
banquet area of the Georgia Center for Continuing Education on the
University of Georgia campus. The program will include remarks from
Secretary Cox and an update on local efforts from CCDC Chair John
Jeffries.

In November the CCDC honored Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin and
are finalizing details for a similar event to honor Lt. Governor Mark
Taylor in
the spring.

Individual tickets for this March 11 event are available from CCDC
Committee Members and cost $25.00. Any proceeds from this event will
go to the CCDC for use in funding a local headquarters. For additional

Jeff Dantzler's arrests may be the best thing that ever happened to him

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Any one who has listened to 960 the Ref AM sports talk radio or heard the UGA Lady Dawgs or men's baseball team has surely heard the encyclopedic knowledge of one Jeff Dantzler. Jeff and I are pretty much diametrically opposed poltically, but today he was arrested on four counts including DUI. I hope he gets the help he needs following his incarceration. I work for a lawyer who could help him out if he does not having someone already representing him. This man is a great broadcaster and I hope this arrest serves as a wake-up call for him and his rock and roll lifestyle. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
