SUBJECT: 2006 QUALIFYING PERIOD

This year’s qualifying period opens at 9:00 am on Monday, April 24, 2006. On Monday through Thursday, qualifying will occur from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm, and on Friday, April 28, qualifying will occur from 9:00 am until noon. No one will be permitted to qualify later than noon on April 28.

The Democratic Party of Georgia’s qualifying will be located in the House Chamber at the State Capitol in downtown Atlanta. Parking is available across Capitol Avenue from the Capitol, and next to the World of Coke museum at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr., Drive and Washington Street.

When candidates arrive in the House Chamber, qualifying will occur as follows:

(1) All required information will be collected from you and data entered by a member of the Democratic Party staff. A qualifying affidavit containing that information will be printed, and you will review the affidavit for accuracy. If accurate, you will sign the affidavit and a notary will notarize it.

· Please note that the qualifying form requires that you list your precinct. To double check your current precinct, please check with your county registrar or go to the Secretary of State’s “poll locator” on her website. (http://www.sos.state.ga.us/cgi-bin/locator.asp)

· In addition to your precinct, you must include your full name, your name as you wish it to appear on the ballot, your residence address, your profession, business or occupation, the number of years you have resided in Georgia, the number of years you have lived in your county, and the number of years you have lived in your district or circuit (if you are running for an office elected by district or circuit).

(2) You will provide via check (we HIGHLY recommend a certified check or cashiers check) the amount due for the office you are seeking. The check should be made payable to the Democratic Party of Georgia. You are permitted by law to pay the qualifying fee using funds from your primary campaign account. The schedule of qualifying fees as prepared by the Secretary of State is below.

(3) We will provide you with a photocopy of your executed qualifying affidavit and your check for your records.

Should you have questions, please call Jeff DiSantis or Anne Bartoletti at (404) 870-8201. We look forward to seeing you next week.
