I am sure this is going to not matter to anyone except the one person who seems happy to try and blow smoke up my shorts with various hateful anonymous comments. No longer will anonymous comments be allowed. So have a spine, show your name and tell me what you think. I need not justify my writing to you or anyone else. Please show some courage and sign your name or pseudonym at least before your pithy ponderings on this blog. Thanks for reading, thanks for writing, but if you are going to criticize me or the Oconee County Democratic Committee, you damn sure have to sign your name from now on. Agitation has its place in the political spectrum, I will admit that. I hope after the primary and general elections we can work together to make Oconee County a much better place. Let's try to ameliorate instead of exacerbate this already contentious and bitter county. Come celebrate at the Eagle Tavern Watkinsville's 200th birthday the day after Thanksgiving.

Jeff Dantzler's arrests may be the best thing that ever happened to him

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Any one who has listened to 960 the Ref AM sports talk radio or heard the UGA Lady Dawgs or men's baseball team has surely heard the encyclopedic knowledge of one Jeff Dantzler. Jeff and I are pretty much diametrically opposed poltically, but today he was arrested on four counts including DUI. I hope he gets the help he needs following his incarceration. I work for a lawyer who could help him out if he does not having someone already representing him. This man is a great broadcaster and I hope this arrest serves as a wake-up call for him and his rock and roll lifestyle. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
