Jim Ivey gets his brief time in jail FINALLY

About time this bum gets his due. My problems with him were more political than personal, but he never gave me that honest feeling in any of his many endeavors. I can fondly recall various public pissing matches in the Editorial pages of various newspapers, where basically I was condemning the current administration as a corrupt failure and this felon and his minions immediately branded me with every ill ever concocted by anyone having anything whatsoever to do with Democratic party. I also have aestheic and governmental concerns about the whole process and design of the Veterans' memorial, and the fact that next to no Democrats are involved in the current planning process. I also shudder at the entire politicization of the process of quasi-governmental approved edifices for man's inhumanity against man. OK, I salute the Veterans and thank them for keeping us free, but also want as much honor for those such as Oconee County's own Montana Representative Jeannette Rankin who fought just as hard for peace.

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Any one who has listened to 960 the Ref AM sports talk radio or heard the UGA Lady Dawgs or men's baseball team has surely heard the encyclopedic knowledge of one Jeff Dantzler. Jeff and I are pretty much diametrically opposed poltically, but today he was arrested on four counts including DUI. I hope he gets the help he needs following his incarceration. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
