Carl's recap of all that has happened locally in the Obama Get Out the Vote efforts





Today our GOTV event in Greensboro was highly successful. Having accomplished the following goals, we are now poised for the BIG event ... Get out the vote in Greene Co. on Election Day! Here's what we did today with 12 volunteers:
  • Organized our campaign staging location complete with a phone line and wireless internet access - thanks to Felton Hudson, JP Crisan, and Bradie Speller
  • Executed successful phone banking and door-to-door canvassing with volunteers from Greene, Jackson, and Oconee Counties.
  • Completed online data entry to VoteBuilder at this location from the phoning & canvassing done today.
We demonstrated that it's possible to do what needs to be done for getting out the vote on Election Day. But we are going to need many more than 12 pairs of feet on the ground on Nov 4th. Please sign-up to help by following one or the other, not both, of these links:

Jeff Dantzler's arrests may be the best thing that ever happened to him

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Any one who has listened to 960 the Ref AM sports talk radio or heard the UGA Lady Dawgs or men's baseball team has surely heard the encyclopedic knowledge of one Jeff Dantzler. Jeff and I are pretty much diametrically opposed poltically, but today he was arrested on four counts including DUI. I hope he gets the help he needs following his incarceration. I work for a lawyer who could help him out if he does not having someone already representing him. This man is a great broadcaster and I hope this arrest serves as a wake-up call for him and his rock and roll lifestyle. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

The booking photo is not to be placed on any web page that charges a fee for booking photo removal. Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
