The Senate is going to be dealing with a large number of crucial issues
affecting us, including the state budget crisis, the continuing water
drought, and funding for roadwork in the county.
The chairman of the Board of Commissioners has a tremendous
amount of power in the county as both its chief executive
and chairman of the legislative body.
Tom Leach has filed as an official write-in candidate,
meaning votes for him will be tallied.
Incumbent Chairman Melvin Davis was invited to the Forum but
said he had a schedule conflict.
The Board of Education spends more than
70 percent of our local property tax dollars and one-third
of our local sales taxes.
The Board hires and fires the superintendent and makes
decisions on a broad range of school policies,
including the location of future schools.
Candidates for four of the five posts will be on the
ballot in November without opposition. Post 5 is being contested.
Please spread the word about the Forum and plan to attend.
Thanks Lee -- Lee Becker
