 Time for a parade indeed in Oglethorpe County at noon Saturday. Please attend and bring your friends and family.

Come out to Oglethorpe County for a Victory Parade! 
 
The Oglethorpe Democrats, our candidates, and our offical mascot Spinoza the Donkey will get out to celebrate on Saturday, Nov. 8, at noon - parade lineup at 11 AM at the Oglethorpe Animal Clinic, Highway 78 and Smokey Road.  The parade will travel down Smokey Road to the Crawford Depot.
 
Wear your best red, white and blue, bring your yard sign (wires removed) and a bag of candy to toss to the kids!  We welcome walkers, bicyles, horses and vehicles - for more information, please call parade organizer Delbra Favors at 706-743-3271

Jeff Dantzler's arrests may be the best thing that ever happened to him

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Any one who has listened to 960 the Ref AM sports talk radio or heard the UGA Lady Dawgs or men's baseball team has surely heard the encyclopedic knowledge of one Jeff Dantzler. Jeff and I are pretty much diametrically opposed poltically, but today he was arrested on four counts including DUI. I hope he gets the help he needs following his incarceration. I work for a lawyer who could help him out if he does not having someone already representing him. This man is a great broadcaster and I hope this arrest serves as a wake-up call for him and his rock and roll lifestyle. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
