The former Mayor and current City Council member of Bishop once again looked at the rally with Republican coated glasses, but Nedra ~ even though she has written letters critical of me when I used to cover her meetings in Bishop ~ is usually quite gracious and has given me vegetables out of her garden and use to invite me to the Town Suppers in Bishop.

I do wish she had seen the rudeness displayed to me by somewhat trying to assault Barry Gordon Irwin. But of course that was on the other side of the small rally and well outside of her predetermined point of view. Nedra Johnson: Democrats rude at rally | Letters | OnlineAthens.com

Jeff Dantzler's arrests may be the best thing that ever happened to him

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Any one who has listened to 960 the Ref AM sports talk radio or heard the UGA Lady Dawgs or men's baseball team has surely heard the encyclopedic knowledge of one Jeff Dantzler. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
