Isn't it odd how some schools expand quicker and less noisier than others?

Dear Athens Academy Parents,

I am pleased to announce that on October 29, 2009, at the direction of the Board of Trustees, the school purchased approximately 49 additional acres contiguous to the existing school property. The property is located at the east end of the campus near the new Arts and Preschool Center site.

While the Board of Trustees has not yet developed a specific use plan, this unique purchasing opportunity provided by the Ivy family ensures many future possibilities.  The funding for this purchase was not from sources available for the Arts and Preschool project and the acquisition in no way diminishes the Board's efforts and resolve to construct the center as soon as is possible.   As has been its history, the Board of Trustees continues to demonstrate vision and courage.

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Jeff and I are pretty much diametrically opposed poltically, but today he was arrested on four counts including DUI. I hope he gets the help he needs following his incarceration. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
