Harris Shoals Park is Watkinsville first County Funded SPLOST project

The residents of Watkinsville are keenly interested in maintaining the historic and or pristine ecological nature of both Rocket Field and Harris Shoals Park, given the attendance at the city council meetings and other venues. The Daughters of the American Revolution are going to try to help maintain and properly title the nearby Watkinsville Cemetery as well. Councilman Brian Brodrick has even proposed having a benefit basketball game at the neighboring Rocket Gym, which is where they could film the sequel for the film "Hoosiers" should they ever need to resurrect the character Jimmy Chitwood (in real life he was Bobby Plump). I bugged Brian to make sure they paint a three point line on both ends of the slightly-tilting-toward-the-creek outdoor basketball court in Harris Shoals Park.

Jeff Dantzler's arrests may be the best thing that ever happened to him

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
