The Oconee County Democrats' Health Care Reform Forum

The Oconee County Democrats and a local political action committee called "Pull the Plug on Paul Broun, Jr." are co-sponsoring a Health Care Reform Forum at 7 PM Thursday, February 4th, 2010 at the Oconee County Library (1080 Experiment Station Road in Watkinsville, Georgia).

Panelists at this free, public forum include Dr. Neal Priest, a local emergency physician (and Oconee County resident); Dr. Fazal Khan, a professor at UGA's School of Law who specializes in health care policy matters and holds both a medical and law degree; and Teresa Duncan, a health insurance billing specialist.

Whatever the fate of the proposed legislation on that date, the panelists are knowledgeable and passionate about health care reform and will discuss the monumental efforts made by Democrats to affect much-needed change.  The moderator of the event is Russell Edwards, a University of Georgia law student and Pull the Plug PAC political organizer.

Dr. Neal Priest said, "There's so much to celebrate in the proposed landmark legislation that has been grossly maligned in the press.  The need for reform is clear.  I hope people will come with an open mind to
learn about the many smart changes and protections that may not even been extended to our state's citizens because Georgia's legislators are hostile toward change or toward President Obama.  If this doesn't pass,
we're back to seeing people bankrupt every day -- even though they have insurance -- and we'll see people denied coverage because of pre-existing conditions.  It's unconscionable."

Members of the public are invited to come a little early to talk with panelists, sponsors, neighbors and friends and to sample some healthy refreshments.

The Health Care Reform Forum is free and the public is welcome regardless of political views or party affiliation (or where they live).
