A.J. Green eligibility ostensibly revolves around jersey sale on Ebay

University of Georgia All American wide receiver Adriel Jeremiah “A. J.” Green did not play in the Bulldogs opener against Louisiana-Lafayette, and the reason is ostensibly because of an ongoing NCAA investigation of whether Green sold a game-worn autographed number 8 jersey of his for $1,000.00, probably on the online auction site Ebay. Green supposedly has not fessed up to the online sale yet.

The Summerville, South Carolina native is very much needed to play this week against his home state South Carolina Gamecock football team of Coach Steve Spurrier, according to most football analysts.

None of this speculation has been substantiated or corroborated elsewhere, but the University of Georgia Athletic Association attorneys are involved with the investigation, according to consistent denials for comment from UGA coach Mark Richt. Initial reports concerned Green's attendance at a party in South Beach part of Miami, Florida at an agent's behest, but the Georgia wide receiver has never been to Miami, according to reports.

Current "Buy it Now" prices for a game worn UGA jersey ranged from $99.00 to $259.00 Tuesday afternoon on Ebay. This does not take into effect authenticity, autographs or the bidding process (which obviously can quickly elevate the price of collectible sports memorabilia).

Nine UGA players were forced to buy new SEC championship rings for $300 each in 2003 after selling them on Ebay including Oconee County High School athlete Tony Taylor in what became known as "Ringgate."
