Motivation for running for office

I am running for the Georgia House District 113th because I want to make this state a better place for my son. I want to make Highway 316 safe with T-SPLOST funds and not with tolls. I want to save the HOPE Scholarship for our students and have an income cap for eligibility requirements. I want to tighten tax loopholes on mega-corporations and end sweetheart deals for legislators. We need more transparent and ethical government business and no more good old boy back room dealings with public officials making money from the government land deals at inflated prices. It is time to restore honor and integrity with our elected officials. Please vote for Dan Matthews for House 113 Special Election Run Off either early this week 8-5 Monday through Friday at your county Board of Election office usually near your Courthouse or at the usual polling place Tuesday, July 19.

I love driving to Bostwick and Crawford, to North High Shoals and Apalachee, to Bogart and Winterville. This is an amazing district full of interesting people who are smart enough to realize who really shares their values and believes, who is not a tool of the banking industry, and who will do best for the voters of the 113th House District.

Remember you are eligible to vote in this Run Off even if you did not vote in the Special Election back in June as long as you meet registration and residency requirements. The district stretches from Bogart to Crawford, Winterville to Bostwick. If you your usual voting place is at Timothy or Cleveland Road schools, or Whit Davis or Barnett Shoals elementary in Athens-Clarke, then you may vote in this important election. If you live and are registered to vote anywhere in Oconee County, Georgia, you may vote in this vital election. Please consider voting for Dan Matthews. Jeff Dantzler's arrests may be the best thing that ever happened to him

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Any one who has listened to 960 the Ref AM sports talk radio or heard the UGA Lady Dawgs or men's baseball team has surely heard the encyclopedic knowledge of one Jeff Dantzler. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
