I love Watkinsville

....to borrow a campaign phrase from current city council member Samantha Purcell, which is why I filed the paperwork and paid the fee to qualify and run for the office of Mayor of Watkinsville.  The election is Tuesday, November 8th, 2011. I do have opposition in Charles Ivie, who was on the council in early 1970s.

I have attended many city council meetings and have learned a lot from Mayor Joe Walter and his predecessor Jim Luken. I hope I garner enough votes and support November 8th to continue to work with the current city council members Mike Link, Brian Brodrick, Samantha Purcell and Toby Smith.

Watkinsville is a wonderful place to live, and I want to make sure it remains so. Please consider voting for me Tuesday, November 8th, 2011 or the two weeks or so of advance voting before. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 706-769-1131. Thank you for your consideration

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Any one who has listened to 960 the Ref AM sports talk radio or heard the UGA Lady Dawgs or men's baseball team has surely heard the encyclopedic knowledge of one Jeff Dantzler. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
