Meredith Lilly, Georgia State Director for the Obama for America Campaign, to speak to the volunteers of the United We Stand! Voter Registration-Campaign.
TeamDemocrat a strategic initiative of the Baldwin County Democratic Committee (BCDC), to engage and/or re-engage voter-eligible residents, have joined forces with numerous community organizations to combat the staggering number of unregistered voters in Baldwin County. Our partners include the Obama for America Campaign, the Milledgeville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the Southern Christian Leadership Council (SCLC), the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the 100 Black Men of Oconee and numerous Churches. This initiative is design to accomplish two objectives in the month of September:
1.The United We Stand! Voter Registration Neighborhood Canvassing Campaign
Date:   September 22, 2012
Place:  Vaughn Chapel Baptist Church
           1980 N Jefferson St Milledgeville GA, 31061
Time:   8:30am
This non-partisan effort will place volunteers in teams of 15 and sent to 15 densely populated areas in all 5 county districts. Their emphasis will be towards the under-represented and middle-class communities. Team objectives will include:
  • Voter Registration
  • Early Voting education
  • Get Out The Vote mobilization data
All community and/or youth organization are invited to participate!
2. The United We Stand! "Citizen Sunday" Voter Registration Campaign.
Date:   September 29, 2012
Place:  Surrounding Churches who serve the under-represented and middle-class communities
Time:   Fifth Sunday-Service

  • This non-partisan effort is designed to allow partnering Churches to feature civic-responsibility sermons and voter-registration opportunities for Church participants.

Important Facts:
According to the 2010 Census, Baldwin County's total population is 45,720, with 20.5% under 18. This means there are approximately 36,348 Baldwin County residents that are of voting age. As of September, 2012 the Georgia Secretary of State documents only 21,355 registered voters in Baldwin County. Statistically only a 58.7% of County residents are registered to vote.
The news continues to get worse! 2,254 (10.5%) of registered voters in Baldwin County are in DANGER of losing their right to vote because of voter-inactivity! In the under-represented and middle-class communities these numbers are even more exacerbated!
