Hey Democrats. This week, we have an exciting meeting lined up for you as well as other announcements for the coming days.

This week's speaker will be Georgia state representative Scott Holcomb, Chief Deputy Whip for the minority caucus, a veteran, and an expert in international relations. He will be speaking to us about his experiences in the Georgia House and answering any questions you may have. The meeting will be held in MLC 267, on Wednesday, March 5 from 6:15 PM. Free pizza and drinks will be provided as always and you can RSVP to the event here.

On Tuesday, we will be at Creswell again doing our biweekly voter registration drive. We will be there from about 5:00 to 6:30, so feel free to stop and say hello if you're nearby.

Lastly, we want to remind you again to register for the YDG Convention happening Friday, April 11th in Columbus, Georgia. Tickets are now $45 and will be going up in the future. Speakers for the event include Jason Carter, Michelle Nunn, Connie Stokes, and many more. The registration form can be found here, and more information can be found on the YDG website.

Jeff Dantzler's arrests may be the best thing that ever happened to him

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Any one who has listened to 960 the Ref AM sports talk radio or heard the UGA Lady Dawgs or men's baseball team has surely heard the encyclopedic knowledge of one Jeff Dantzler. Jeff and I are pretty much diametrically opposed poltically, but today he was arrested on four counts including DUI. I hope he gets the help he needs following his incarceration. I work for a lawyer who could help him out if he does not having someone already representing him. This man is a great broadcaster and I hope this arrest serves as a wake-up call for him and his rock and roll lifestyle. I live a far from perfect life myself but long ago and far away I learned how and when not to drink. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

The booking photo is not to be placed on any web page that charges a fee for booking photo removal. Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
