Every Single Day - Valarie Wilson video for Georgia School Superintendent race

Wilson Releases Video Ad

I want to use all of my skills and experiences to help students achieve dreams

Decatur, Ga. - June 30, 2014 - Marking the
first day of early voting for the Georgia Primary Run Off election,
Valarie Wilson, candidate for State School Superintendent released her
first video advertising.

"I'm excited to share with Georgians why I am running for
State School Superintendent. Every child deserves a quality education,
effective teachers and strong schools," said Wilson.

Wilson joined the school board of the City Schools of
Decatur in 2002 and became the moving force behind the establishment of
the College Heights Early Childhood Learning Center, acting on research
that shows that early childhood education is critical to success in the
K-12 years.

As Board Chair from 2005-2011, Valarie helped to turn
around the finances of the district. Through a forceful-if sometimes
painful-reorganization, the district was able to move forward with no
teacher furloughs or shortening of the school year.

Wilson joined the Georgia School Boards Association in
2009 and was its president in 2012-2013. She helped create the Vision
for Public Education in Georgia, an educational framework for boards
that included input from board members, superintendents, teachers,
teaching colleges, elected officials, parents and students. More than 80
percent of state school board systems have begun to implement the
Vision's recommendations.

Wilson says that reforming Georgia's public education system won't be easy, but it can happen.

"Reform isn't a slam-dunk. It's complicated. What
works for a large suburban system like Gwinnett may not work in poor
rural systems, like the one I attended as a child in southeast Georgia.
There's not a magic formula, but it is achievable. We must concentrate
on the basics," Wilson said.

Wilson has been endorsed by the Georgia
Association of Educators, the Georgia Federation of Teachers,
Congressman Hank Johnson, Rita Robinzine, Joe Martin, Senate Democratic
Whip Vincent Fort, House Democratic Whip Carolyn Hugley, Senate
Democratic Leader Steve Henson, Sens. Ed Harbison, Emanuel Jones, David
Lucas, Nan Orrock, Freddie Powell Sims, Gloria Butler, Ron Ramsey, Steve
Henson and House Reps. Simone Bell, Howard Mosby, Sharon
Beasley-Teague, Pam Stephenson, Debbie Buckner, Roger Bruce, Pam
Dickerson, Gloria Frazier, Mary Margaret Oliver, Henry Howard, Nikki
Randall, Earnest Smith, Mickey Stephens, David Wilkerson, Al Williams,
Carl Von Epps and Coach Williams.
