Georgia's future

Better Georgia
I'm a woman.
I'm 19.
I'm a student.
And, this summer,  I worked for Better Georgia.
Why?
When I was in high school, I attended a talk where former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright addressed a group of students. I distinctly remember her emphasizing how essential women are to society, explaining that countries in which women are treated equally experience greater economic security.
She also said, "I think more than ever, women want to take care of themselves. And they want a voice in how that's done."
This kind of attitude could not more applicable to Georgia.
That's why I wanted to work for an organization that holds our government accountable to make real changes that will better our state. I wanted to help support advocacy efforts for women and all Georgians.
It may seem like a lofty goal - challenging the current power structure to facilitate a positive change for the future. Amidst the corruption and extremist policies that hurt women the most, it may seem like a lost cause to try to change anything, right?
Wrong.

In the Georgia electorate, women matter. Women will make the difference.
On November 4th, one of two things will happen. Either Georgia women will sit back and say, "Nothing I do will change anything," and, of course, nothing will change. Or we will speak our minds and use our votes to elect leaders who will fight for equality.
If women vote, we have the power to shape the future of our state.
Today, I hope you will join the conversation on our "Women for a Better Georgia" Facebook page. There, you can join a community of engaged Georgia women and keep up with current issues impacting us and our state.
Please "like" our page and add your voice to the growing chorus demanding change.
With your help, I know that Georgia will not have to put up with another four years of a conservative supermajority that harms women. I am confident we will be the gamechangers on Election Day.
Sincerely,

Fellow
