Marc McCain campaigns illegally in Morgan Manor Estates subdivision, while Paul Broun complies with the law

 Today I received a flier from 10th District GOP congressional candidate Marc McCain sticking out of the flag of my mail box at my home in Morgan Manor Estates subdivision in Watkinsville, Evidently this is the first time McCain or his volunteers have canvassed because they should know it is illegal to place campaign literature in, on, or on top of any mail receptacle without proper postage affixed or otherwise using the United States Postal Services. You may place any campaign brochure or literature in the door of the residence, leave it on the porch, or just about anywhere except the mailbox. Campaigning 101 was evidently not taken by this volunteer. The USPS owns your mailbox, and is the only body that can place things in their legally (along with Amazon and the like). 

Last night just after sunset I heard a knock on my door and it was a volunteer for Dr. Paul Broun asking if I wanted a flier from his campaign. I politely declined, even though Dr. Broun did get me an invitation to the second inauguration of Barack Obama back when I was the chairman of the Oconee County Democratic Party the third and final time. This was completely legal, despite my numerous "No Solicitation" signs on both my doors, which the volunteer can completely ignore and stay within the boundaries of the law.

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Jeff and I are pretty much diametrically opposed poltically, but today he was arrested on four counts including DUI. I hope he gets the help he needs following his incarceration. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
