Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note® II Dave and Mario ,  Thank you again, and again, for loaning Oconee Democrats your handsome Ashford on Main . new venue, I counted almost 75 people who were there on June 20.  Hope all of them will bring friends, business meetings, and wedding celebration, back to you. Thanks for making it so southern-ly beautiful that evening with all the magnolias every where--the scents and visuals were perfect!  Congratulations on becoming one of our Community Leader awardees too.  You two should get this award every year from ALL of Oconee County! I hope you heard half the compliments I did that night, about the house and setting;  multiple and flattering. PAT Adams VP of Oconee Democratic Committee

Ashford Manor's 'Concerts on the Lawn' Series Ending After 12th Season

Ashford Manor's 'Concerts on the Lawn' Series Ending After 12th Season

Dozen years of Concerts on the Lawn comes to an end at Ashford Manor B&B

After 12 years, Ashford Manor Bed & Breakfast in Watkinsville is ending its popular Concerts on the Lawn series on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 3. The final concert will feature The Sensational Sounds of Motown, with gates opening at 5 p.m. Sept. 3, and the concert running from 6 to 9 p.m. Ashford Manor proprietors Mario Castro and David Shearon said they were saddened to end the series, which drew monthly crowds of around 500 to1,000 people to the four-acre estate -- the second largest concert venue in the Athens area. They cited economic reasons as well as dwindling attendance for bringing the series to an end. “It’s been a tremendously hard decision,” said Shearon, “one of the toughest we’ve had to make since we’ve been here.” Shearon and Castro, along with Shearon’s brother Jim Shearon, opened the bed and breakfast in 1997 and began the concert series three years later. For 11 years, the concerts took place nearly every Monday night from May through October. But...

Kick The Robot - Can't Get Enough

Check out the cool sounds of Kick The Robot, who will be playing at the final Team 6 event as Ashford Manor on Sunday, March 25, 2012 4-7PM!

Ashford on Main unveiled tonight at the Sanctuary

Ashford Manor Bed and Breakfast just doubled in size with the announcement that Dave Shearon and Mario Castro will be moving in their neighbor's to the south where Mike and Nona Thornton lived with their family. Anyone who attended the Daughters of the American Revolution's dedication of the pocket park in front of Jittery Joe's knows how far that property stretches. Dave and Mario will live upstairs and the downstairs will function as another meeting and event space. They are having a party to celebrate the 60th birthday of David Shearon's birth on March 25th as a fundraiser for the Dancing with the Athens Stars Team 6 with the unveiling of their new digs. Should be quite the soiree.
