Art Masters moving into the old Cherokee Connection location

The Watkinsville merchant location shuffle continues to ebb and flow with the announcement that long time local framing business Art Masters will be moving up Main Street to the old Cherokee Connection location at 18 N. Main Street. This is the fourth location of Art Masters in the last ten years, and moves the business almost across the street from their original location in downtown Watkinsville. Owner Geoff Seila has plans to even add a small vinyl record business in a back room of the new location. Seila in once again renting from Joy Elder after talking extensively with Miss Vinnie Williams of the Oconee Enterprise and outgoing Mayor Jim Luken of Watkinsville into moving the business instead of closing down. His move leaves Jimmy Marbut and Sunshine Cycles as the only tenant in the small strip mall between the restaurants Chicken Express and Floyd's Grill.

Well written letter by UGA Journalism professor Lee Becker with links and facts. Somehow someone commented at the end that the Oconee Enterprise newspaper is owned by a Tea bagger. While Miss Vinnie may enjoy an occasional steeped and brewed cup of tea, she has never struck me as being that far right. Rob Peecher at the Oconee News Leader is another story all together. Sorry if you have not been able to read this blog lately

So I succumbed to the almighty dollar and did what any money-hungry American capitalist would do, I tried to add advertising via blogger and Google and almost immediately people reporting having trouble connecting. So I will stay poor, keep the ads off, and realize the readers are the most important thing about this blog. What is going on you ask? Charlie Brooks called to ask me about the taxpayers revolt. I only know what I have heard from the Neal Boortz show and have heard that the new tea parties are primarily the unfair tax people rebranding their attempts at populsm. Meanwhile the Oconee County Board of Commissioners led by chairman G. Melvin Davis are continuing their moronic path toward an unnecessary new courthouse in Watkinsville. The white elephant that is a large lot of the Williams brothers have razed behind the jail in the latest location infatuation for Miss Vinnie and the Enterprising crowd. Personally I cannot think of a bigger boondoggle than this study of a courtho...
