Proof that Republicans and Democratic leaders can work together on a national level

Christie: Obama 'kept every promise' on storm aid WAYNE PARRY Associated Press HIGHLANDS, N.J. — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Monday that President Barack Obama "has kept every promise he's made" about helping the state recover from Superstorm Sandy. Speaking on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" program on the 6-month anniversary of the deadly storm, the Republican governor said presidential politics were the last thing on his mind as he toured storm-devastated areas with Obama last fall. "The president has kept every promise he's made," said Christie, widely considered a potential candidate for the republican presidential nomination in 2016. "I think he's done a good job. He kept his word." Christie's warm embrace of Obama after the storm angered some Republicans, who said it helped...

The Sequester

From: "The White House" < info@messages.whitehouse.gov > Date: March 1, 2013 5:34:35 PM EST To:  Subject: The Sequester Reply-To: info@messages.whitehouse.gov Friday, March 1, 2013 Starting today, our government will need to grapple with a set of arbitrary budget cuts that will hurt the economy, make life harder for middle-class families, and threaten our national security. That's what Washington means when it talks about the sequester. Not everyone will feel the consequences of these cuts immediately, but if sequestration is allowed to continue, it will make life more difficult for Americans all across the country. That's a fact that no one disputes. And the reason we are here is because some members of Congress have made a choice to prioritize these cuts over closing tax loopholes for the wealthy. But there is still time for them to make a different choice and undo this manufactured crisis. Today, President Obama discu...

The U.S. Capitol a day or two before the Inaugural I was very fortunate to attend the recent Inaugural of President Barack Obama in Washington, DC thanks to Congressman Paul Broun for the tickets. It was my first time in our Nation's Capitol and is a trip I will never forget. I wish to thank everyone from the travel agent Stuart to the people on the airplane for making it happen. Thank you to Teddie Norton at Congressman Broun's staff for making it happen and I appreciate the staffer from the unnamed North Carolina Senator for picking the tickets up before the Friday deadline. We had tickets in the orange section, which was to the far right of the stage, which I suppose would be appropriate for Congressman Broun.  I did not see the Congressman but I did see U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss from Moultrue getting off the plane at the end of the trip in Ronald Reagan airport, looking like the weight of the world was holding him down. Obviously it was as he was making u...
