Oconee County Sheriff's Department closing Epps Bridge Road 9:12 am 1/10/2011

With the six inches of snow, the Oconee County Sheriff's Department just closed Epps Bridge Road from the Oconee County line to Wal-Mart with several cars stranded, according to Deputy Lee Weems of the Oconee County Sheriff's Department. There is a very steep grade from the bridge until Wal-Mart. This is the tail end of 316 as well so please do not drive on that road. Do not drive people, stay at home and be safe.

Trader Joe's coming to Oconee County

A very good source revealed to me that the high end grocery store long sought by discriminating shoppers who have traveled 50 miles to Atlanta to shop at will be coming to Oconee County soon. More soon when I can get further information. The location is part on Epps Bridge Parkway.

The Roadway to Epps Bridge Centre

The history and back story, not to mention the consequences of the "done deal" that is the new monstrosity called Epps Bridge Centre - thank to Lee Becker once again. Dear Friends, The scheduled hearing on Oct. 7 for the rezone request for the $76 million Epps Bridge Centre on Epps Bridge Parkway might seem almost to be an afterthought. The state–at the urging of the county–already has decided to build a $26 million roadway to the project. The county, in an effort to facilitate the project, has loaned the state $5 million for right of way purchase for the roadway. That's only part of the story. The county has passed a beer and wine ordinance, the federal government has granted a permit for mitigation of stream damage in Oconee by stream reparations in Greene County, and the local planning staff reviewed the project favorably despite a decidedly negative review by their regional counterparts. The reason Oconee County is so enthusiastic about the project is...

Epps Bridge Centre will change Oconee forever

---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Lee Becker < lbbecker@mindspring.com > Date: Thu, Aug 28, 2008 at 9:39 PM Subject: Epps Bridge Centre To: lbbecker@mindspring.com Dear Friends, On Tuesday night, the Board of Commissioners will vote on a major commercial rezone planned for beside and behind Lowe's on Epps Bridge Parkway. The project will greatly change the amount of traffic in the area, will pave over streams feeding into McNutt Creek, will create a large amount of impervious surface, and will generate a lot of tax revenue for Oconee County. This is a very big project. When it is built out--and it almost certainly will be approved--it will greatly change the nature of the part of Oconee County where it is located. Think of a 16-screen movie theater and seven restaurants. Think if retail space rivaling Georgia Square Mall. It is safe to say Oconee County will never be the same. And this is only the beginning of what is planned. For details of the projec...

Another huge new development is coming to Oconee County

Some massive new development half the size of Phipps Plaza in the Buckhead area of Atlanta will continue to fuel our economic growth and congest our clogged traffic arteries. I wonder if these are the same Bishops that built the sewer for the south side of Watkinsville.
