Karl Rove - fundraising for Brian Kemp - booked for Georgia GOP convention May 17-18

Your daily jolt: Karl Rove booked for Georgia GOP convention Somehow I think that Karl Rove raising money for Brian Kemp could kill any chance for the Georgia Secretary of State of seeking higher office here, at least any time soon. Newt Gingrich is supposed to be coming down from Virginia for the expected coronation of John Padgett as the next chair of the Georgia GOP, although B.J. Van Gundy, Alex Johnson and Seth Harp might have a thing or two to say about that. Also Padgett's description of the current Commander in Chief as a "Chicago thug" on Tim Bryant's NewsMaker Tuesday on Fox News 1340 WGAU AM in Athens will not do much to garner much support in the African-American circles with such racially tinged language, despite any grand schemes for manuals on how to deal with outbreaks of Ron/Rand Paul supporters.

SOS Qualifying Training in Macon

Evidently this is being put on by Brian Kemp's office and not by the Democratic Party of Georgia. I asked our member of the Board of Elections and Registration Robert Wyatt through his wife Ann Stoneburner if he would like to attend. Kemp: Super Tuesday primary date made Georgia relevant | Online Athens

I see Secretary of State Brian Kemp or his wife in line at Athens Academy to pick up our kids maybe twice a week. I wish Georgia was more relevant in the national Presidential campaigns and that President Barack Obama would come to the Caterpillar opening next week. I have not yet received my invitation. DPG Chairman Mike Berlon on President Obama's inclusion on Georgia ballot

Image
Will Secretary of State Brian Kemp step up and do the right thing and save the State of Georgia time, money, embarrassment and ridicule? The fact that the President of the United States Barack Obama has already been elected once, sworn in, and been on the ballot in Georgia before has not entered into the legal proceedings in an absolute swindle and joke. From: Democratic Party of Georgia info@georgiademocrat.org Date: January 25, 2012 8:44:44 PM EST Subject: DPG Chairman Mike Berlon on President Obama's inclusion on Georgia ballot Reply-To: info@georgiademocrat.org Democratic Party of Georgia Chairman Mike Berlon releases the following statement on tomorrow's administrative hearing to address President Obama's inclusion on the Georgia Presidential primary ballot: "Several lawsuits were recently filed against President Obama questioning whether he is an American citizen in an attempt to remove him from the Georgia primary ballot.  Despite t...

Reflections of one wacky campaign season

I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the campaign trail against Chuck Williams and the others, some more than others, but I was always welcomed with open arms at every venue, home and business in the 113th District. I congratulate the new Representative and wish him the very best in conducting the people's business in Special Session. I expect to be posting about this and many other snippets in the days and weeks to come. It was interesting how this blog became an issue in the campaign with the coordinated public relations character assassination on a national scale a few hours before the second debate. Death became an issue as my father died in November and Chuck Williams' late mother passed in October, who to the best of my knowledge I have not met and did not know and have nothing but respect for, were brought up in various places and spaces. Mr. Williams claimed his mother would have burned the truck down in about two days if she were still alive. I told Tim Bryant of my ...

The worst coach in the world

That is how I felt after a season full of frustration came to a head this evening in the first round of the Oconee Parks and Recreation Department u12 soccer season.  Our winless team lost yet again in the post-season tourney 4-2 after playing a great first half. I blew a gasket late in the second half when we were still down by one goal and the other team had an out of bounds ball directly in front of our bench. The other team had two players who I would say were worthy of traveling team status, while we maybe had three who occasionally did. I give the other team all the credit in the world. The other team took its sweet time deciding who was going to pass the ball in and player "A" took the ball over his head to throw it in and actually pumped like he was going to throw it in, then their coach decided another player was to throw it in instead, and the first player tossed the ball into the field of play to the second player, underhanded, but a violation none the less. It w...

Ga. SOS candidate Michael Mills speaks to Oconee County Democratic Committee meeting

Image
Georgia Democratic candidate for Secretary of State Michael P. Mills , former hockey player from Hobarth College in New York, impressed a packed room of enthusiastic and curious voters Thursday evening at Watkinsville's Governmental Annex building in heavily Republican Oconee County, Georgia. Mills made an impression he would fight for our voting rights against the GOP's registration suppression tactics of the last two Secretaries of State. Michael P. Mills addressed a meeting of Oconee County Democratic Committee members Thursday evening in Watkinsville. (Photo by Daniel J. Matthews, Jr.) Mills commented at length but succinctly about how Democrats can come back to win at various levels in Georgia, "by meeting people knee to knee" and answered many questions about his office and the crowded Secretary of State race. He impressed the gathering with his direct answers and understanding of the various complexities of the office. Mills moved to Georgia more than 13...
