Democratic candidate Tyra Byers withdraws from Oconee Cty. BOC Post 3 run

Image
Tyra Gebhard Byers I am so appreciative of the outpouring of support I received for my bid for County Commissioner so it is with a heavy heart that I am letting you know that I had to withdraw from the race for today. I jumped in because I am confident I can serve well as commissioner and because I believe we need a voice in the future of this community. I did not fully grasp what it would take to run a successful campaign. I was up all night over this, but ultimately realized that my kids and family are my number one priority right now. I wouldn't want to run a campaign that I couldn't pour myself into 100%. I hate to disappoint those who have already offered me support, but ultimately feel that it is the right decision. Thank you all!

Click here OCAF Project to Give Studios 'Light of Day' School Street Studios' Windows Campaign Call for Donations When Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation (OCAF) was organized in 1994, a few skeptics believed the dream of Watkinsville as a thriving arts center would never see the light of day. The skeptics were wrong. Today, Watkinsville ranks in the top 25 of Small Cities for Arts designation by American Style magazine , and OCAF is a major contributor to that accomplishment. Still, the light of day remains an issue. At least in the School Street Studios. It's the windows. We've had to cover most of them due to their deteriorating condition, and now we need to replace them. To do so, we're making an appeal to our membership, to former students of the School Street building when it was an elementary school, and to the public in general, as well as t...
