Big days coming up in Rec Department world

Image
For some of us the day of signing up for summer camp is one of the more difficult days with converging schedules and sports and vacation plans, and in most years the crowds start lining up extra early in Oconee County Recreation Department to try to get their kids' names registered and in line to be enrolled in the least expensive summer activities in the area. Folks usually start arriving around sunrise with lawn chairs to make sure they have a place for their kids during the summer school break. Summer Day Camp registration is 8:00 am Monday, April 19th, 2010 at the John T. Brannen building of the Herman C. Michael Park. The cost is $90.00/week with a $30.00 deposit due at Registration. Little bits about three or four things in the summer camp recreational sports world in Oconee County, Georgia this summer

Sorry to read about the fate of Patrick Cline in the Oconee Enterprise today (not available online) at the pool where he was banned from future Oconee Recreation Department matters. I respect any father who comes to the aid of his son, but you can never bump into any official, intentionally or otherwise. To call the Sheriff was a bit silly I think, but Lord knows I have had to call the Sheriff's Department for a few would-be fracases over the years at Herman C. Michael back when I worked there almost twenty years ago (!!!) I would be willing to have Cline mentor or coach my son if the situation arises in the near future as I do not think I will be coaching soccer in the fall for the Oconee Recreation Department. I might do basketball again...
