I really enjoyed campaigning in Winterville at the Marigold Festival last weekend. This was really the first event of my fledging campaign for the House District 113 Special Election (EARLY VOTING BEGINS WEDNESDAY), and I owe this opportunity to Mark Farmer, city council for Winterville who hooked me up with the right folks for the Marigold Festival organizers. The organizers were extremely competent and welcoming, making every one I met feel like they were right at home. I finally met Alan Alexander face to face and a couple of children and returned some signs he had given me before my getting in the race. He drove around in a red convertible while I was walking it with my son. I have talked to him on the telephone many times at work, and he has a deep recognizable voice. It was amazing seeing all the people gathered on the square and fun to meet the people in the parade. That was without a doubt the quickest mile I have ever walked.
