Just got robo-called by Barbara Bush on behalf of Willard "Mitt" Romney

I have never enjoyed receiving robo-calls. I did get former Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond and the newly single and former Lieutenant Governor nominee Carol Porter to record some for me in my State Legislature campaign. I doubt whether Barbara Bush is going to convince many Democratic voters in Oconee County to crossover and vote for Mitt, but I think that would do the worst for Newt Gingrich. I strongly encourage all voters to go to the polls tomorrow to support whomever they want in the Georgia Presidential Primary and remind you that you can choose a Democratic ballot and support Presidenti Barack Obama if the choices on the Republic side have no appeal. One side of me would think that Newt winning Georgia will prolong the Republican nomination process a few more weeks. Mitt won five in a row counting Washington. I am fairly certain he will have more delegates Wednesday morning. Oh yes, there is a Ron Paul rally at the Georgia Theatre 5:00 pm this Monday afternoon and there are...

Carol Dodd Porter in reaction to revelations of Casey Cagle affairs from former GOP candidate and Morgan County resident Ray Boyd

Since the day I announced to run, I have kept to the issues facing Georgia and have not once made a personal attack on my opponents. I have stated many times when asked about the incident reported, I was not going there and that I could bea t the incumbent Lieutenant Governor on his poor record on the issues facing Georgians. It is obvious from the viciousness of his false attacks on me that I am doing just that. I have been endorsed by leading Republican pundits and by Republican leaning newspapers. I am getting the cross over needed in Georgia to win and Cagle sees that. As the people hear the truth on the property tax increases and the tax wasting decisions made by the incumbent Lieutenant Governor, they are coming on board with my message of stopping corruption and cutting waste. If Cagle were not in fear of losing, he would not have gone back into the studio to cut his latest false attack ad, saying I would raise billions in government spending, when I am the one who wants to...

My wife, Carol Porter, announces her candidacy for Lt. Governor. (AP Photo/Erik S. Lesser) "My wife, Carol, announced she is running for Lt. Governor of the state of Georgia today. Over the last several weeks, there has been a viral movement to draft Carol for Lt. Governor that has taken on a life of its own. There truly is no one more qualified or who knows the issues better. Carol is an awesome person and would make an awesome Lt. Governor. She announced this morning at 11 a.m. and as of 6:00 p.m. today, google shows there have been 123 stories posted on her announcement, including The New York Times, The Huffington Post, The Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post . It seems Georgia is finding...

The dynamics of the first husband-wife ticket in Georgia politics and Pete's opposing (?) Flagpole viewpoint

The AJC's excellent writer Jim Galloway's take on the Carol Porter and DuBose Porter political ticket for Georgia. Good quotes and links giving the Michael Thurmond and Casey Cagle positions as well. Pete McCommons of Flagpole seems to like that Mike has announced to him (and seemingly no one else) for Lt. Governor. Barnes has big bucks in Governor's race, and Johnathan McGinty is quoted

The Georgia Governor's race appears to be more and more a Roy Barnes versus John Oxendine match if the money and tainted poll results are any indication. Georgians have been known to revolt from the conventional wisdom.  I would rather have a Team Porter ticket vs. a Handel-Cagle on the G.O.P. side.
