For May, the book group sponsored by the Oconee Democrats is reading Gerald Stern's "The Buffalo Creek Disaster," a book many law students are assigned and actually enjoy reading! I hate to give away the ending (though the sub-title does, too), but . . . . . ordinary people win their suit against a big coal company. Maybe we can learn more about fighting back against environmental degradation and the many other challenges we face. The San Francisco Chronicle described the book as "a straightforward, suspenseful, and completely absorbing tale that will leave you cheering at the end."
