Construction begins in earnest on flood abatement for 1st Christian Church
Just a word of warning to those who might be driving downtown to vote or anything on Simonton Bridge Road west toward downtown in Watkinsville. Work has begun near the First Christian Church to stop the flooding that may or may not be caused by the large Town Center shopping mall across Simonton Bridge. There was one block cordoned off while curbs were being finished this extremely busy Special Election St. Patrick's Day Tuesday on a warm and lovely afternoon. Might be a good day to walk to the polls? afternoon. The final westbound block (between First and Main Streets in downtown Watkinsville) of Simonton Bridge Road in under construction and blocked for construction of new curbing to attempt to abate the near constant flooding at the church on Main Street.
