Another friendly reminder that the Oconee Democrats will meet next Saturday, Aug. 6., at 8:00 a.m. at the Oconee Connector fire station (next to the new QT) to clean up our adopted mile of road.  This project is part of the national observance of President Obama's birthday and we will be joining Democrats around the state and country in community service projects. NOTE: Please join us at Krimson's Kafe at 11:30 for lunch and fellowship, whether or not you can participate in the cleanup. I predict a break in the ridiculously hot weather by next Saturday! Please bring a pair of work gloves with you, as well as any aluminum cans you want to add to the firefighters' collection bin. It should be cooling off by 5, and afterwards, the group may want to reward itself for a job well done and a valuable contribution to keeping Oconee clean and beautiful with a cool drink at a nearby watering ...

Love, Verner F. I will be coaching basketball at the time, but would strongly urge and forever be grateful if you would to help the local Democratic party pick up trash and cigarette butts from the side of the Oconee Connector next Saturday. Meet at the Barber Creek Fire Station at 9:30 a.m. and bring a pair of work gloves (and empty aluminum cans for the firefighters' recycling project).
