Subject: [oconeedemocrats] Thursday March 15 agenda [3 Attachments]

Hi all,
Attached is the agenda for March 15th.  The big item is my resignation and Dan's nomination and election as chair, as discussed at the February meeting.  As also discussed in the February meeting, Robert and I will have excused absences, but Liz will chair the meeting and will communicate a copy of my resignation and our proxy votes for Dan.  Several new members have indicated that they plan on attending tomorrow night's meeting, so please welcome them.  Perhaps a couple of you could print out extra agendas for guests?
So far only Pat Adams has requested an excused absence (along with Robert and myself), so please everyone who is in town, please try to be there.  Also attached are copies of new members' names and addresses and my request for reimbursement and both Robert and my in-kind donations.  You may want to discuss the cost-benefit ratio of our February rally which, while successful, was also expensive.

2.     Agenda corrections and approval

3.     Liz Goodroe and approval of minutes of the meeting on February 16, 2012

4.     Violet Dawe and the Treasurer’s report.  Please submit receipts for reimbursement or in-kind donations to Violet.

5.     Sarajane Love:  Discussion of February 25th rally

6.     Sarajane: Discussion of continuing our commitment to Adopt-A-Road

7.     Jonathan Veit:  Updates on Oconeedems.com web-site

8.     Liz:  Acceptance of Ann Stoneburner’s resignation as chair.  Nomination and election of Dan Matthews as chair.  Rita Bennett has offered to continue as first vice chair.

9.     Dan Matthews:  Attended training session held at the Bishop Community Center on February 23rd for citizens who would like to be delegates to the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, September 3-6.  The actual election of delegates will be at a caucus held in Madison on Saturday, April 21st at Morgan County High School. The 10th Congressional District will send 5 delegates, 3 men and 2 women, to the National Convention.  Patsy Harris has requested volunteers to assist her at the caucus in Madison.

10.  New Business:

Please remember that according to our bylaws, there will be an election for Committee members in August or early September.  [GA BL 3.5. Election Procedure:  Committee members are to be elected at a caucus of the Oconee County Democratic Party to be held within 45 days following the General Primary.  The time, place, and method of the caucus shall be set by the Committee and advertised no less than 30 days in advance.]  The general primary is July 31, 2012.  The caucus needs to be held before September 14.
Hopefully several of our new members will agree to serve on the Committee.

The State Committee is asking that we start our voter registration drive.  In light of our previous discussions concerning the high percentage of registered voters in Oconee County (95%) and the predominance of Republicans in the county, what is the Committee’s pleasure concerning a voter registration drive in general and at the local high schools in particular?
Future speakers:  Jeff Ingram of the Obama Campaign in Georgia has been contacted, but other suggestions would be welcomed.
How can Liz Goodroe and Peggy Thrasher subscribe to “oconee democrats” or oconeedemocrats@yahoogroups.com? Is there a password?
Change meeting day of week from 3rd Thursday to 3rd Wednesday?
