Demographic Information about Oconee County compared to the State of Georgia

Every year the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin do a ranking of counties in the United States regarding "health".  I thought occasionally I would share some of their data with our group.  We rank #5 out of 159 counties on health measures.  I thought I would start by just showing you some of the general demographics.  A half of our county is considered rural.  We have no native Hawaiians.   Best, Margaret Demographics Population 34,035 9,992,167 % below 18 years of age 26.8% 24.9% % 65 and older 12.9% 12.0% % Non-Hispanic African American 5.1% 30.5% % American Indian and Alaskan Native 0.3% 0.5% % Asian 3.6% 3.7% % Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander 0.0% 0.1% % Hispanic 4.6% 9.2% % Non-Hispanic white 85.4% 54.8% % not proficient in English 1.4% 3.2% % Females 51.3% 51.1% % Rural 50.3% 24.9%
