2014 US Senate Election

Image
I was polled Friday afternoon and there was no identifier, but my support would go toward Michael Thurmond with General David Poythress second and Jane Kidd third. Fourth would have to be a wild card like Rich or Andy Rusk, Stephanie Stuckey Benfield or someone with charisma and deep pockets. Democratic candidates would be very smart to get together and not have a primary and let the Republicans rip and shred themselves apart in a primary to give the Democratic candidate  a real shot in November 2014. I would also support Jason Carter From: Patsy Harris patsydudney@yahoo.com To: Sent: Friday, January 25, 2013 2:15 PM Subject: 2014 US Senate Election Hi District 10 Democratic Leaders! From: Patsy Harris Sent: Sunday, April 1, 2012 8:22 PM Subject: Target: House District 117 (Clarke, Barrow, Oconee, and Jackson Counties) Folks, w e have until the end of May to find a fine Democrat to run against and win the new House District 117. Already, one Republican has announced for the primary. D117 will include four counties named above.  Just to give you a few stats I just pulled from Votebuilder: 30,144 registered voters 2,144 Strong Dems 1,780 Strong Repubs 17,733 - Clarke 59% 2,433 - Barrow 8% 3,279 - Jackson 11% 6,695  - Oconee 22% Can each of you assign a small committee to find the candidate possibilities in your own county? Look at currently and formerly elected officials, retired teachers, business people, well-known community activists. Make a list of your top five in priority order. Then each, one at a time, with a prepared list of reasons they are needed by the district. When they say no, then wait...

Register voters NOW for the many November elections.

Image
Subject: Register voters NOW for the many November elections. There are three big reasons for Democrats to methodically register voters before October 11, 2011. 1. Nearly every GA county is having municipal elections November 8. 2. District 10's Banks, Franklin , Habersham , Hart, Rabun, Stephens and Towns Counties will be electing a new GA State Senator on the same day. 3. Habersham is ALSO having an election for GA State Rep. on the same day! Folks, go door to door with your registration forms, have the new voters fill them out, and then turn them in to the Elections Office yourself. This would be a great time to register new Hispanic voters. Attached is a federal voter registration form in Spanish/English. Also attached is the English form that I have highlighted in yellow for voter registration and in green, the extra places to fill in for change of name or address. Letter to the Editor about Paul Broun

Broun Jr. – Thinking (?) on his feet  Ever feel like you had fallen into the scrambled depths of a running washing machine? That’s how I felt after Congressman Paul Broun Jr.’s rambling response to one Republican-sounding woman at his Town Hall meeting last week in Eatonton. I recorded her statement and his five-minute-plus, talking-pointed,  flight-of-ideas. How could a Democrat or English teacher ever feel comfortable at a Broun Town Hall? The woman was concerned “…that Social Security that has been paid into for years by people who are retired now is in the same category as SSI… I’d like to know about the bill for Medi caid , which is a welfare program.” Broun Jr.’s response: “OK…well the, um, in the Ryan budget…let me see if I can get this right…because the only thing that was dealt with in the House-passed budget… The Senate hasn’t passed a budget in over 800 days. They haven’t even tried. In the last Congress Nancy Pelosi didn’t even try to pass a budget. The Ryan budg...
