This is a letter from Patsy Harris, chair of the 10th Congressional District of Georgia for the Democratic Party of Georgia (DPG) in the wake of the opening of their first satellite office in Augusta last weekend as well as the State Committee Meeting. The JJ Dinner below is the Jefferson Jackson Dinner, Saturday, May 21, 2011in Atlanta. Subject: Hi Chairs and State Committee Members What an incredible day we had last Saturday at the Georgia Democratic State Committee Meeting in Augusta! There is so much to tell you about, but I will just hit the highlights. Suzy Compere filed for the 113th

Please see below from Patsy Harris. Now we need to begin planning how we will support Suzy both logistically and financially. Jonathan Correction, she will not have any primary opposition in July unless there was other last second filings on the Democratic side. ~ Dan __________________________________________________________ What a pleasure to deliver this news to you all! Our very own Morgan County Democratic Committee Member Suzy Compere has just qualified with the Democratic Party of Georgia to run in the July primary as a candidate for the Georgia House, District 113! The incumbent representative is Bob Smith, who has announced that he will not run for another term. Three Republicans are in the primary race for the seat. Suzy has thought long and hard about this decision, done a lot of research, a lot of soul searching, a lot of sleeping-on-it, and spoken long hours with her very supportive family and state Democratic officials. She will need the support of each and every one o...

Morgan County's Suzy Compere running for 113th as Democratic candidate

Image
Morgan County resident Suzy Compere qualified to run as a Democrat in the Georgia House of Representatives 113th district in what is often referred to as the old Bob Smith seat. Very little is known about her other than she pronounces her name as "compare" and I am certain we will be comparing her to Kirk Shook, Hank Huckaby and Tommy Malcom very favorably.

Oconee County remains the least unemployed county in the state of Georgia

This article from the Morgan County Citizen newspaper somewhat dismissively allows that Oconee County's lowest-in-the-state unemployment rate is a due in part to our proximity to the University of Georgia. There is some truth to that assessment. County’s unemployment rate drops .03 of a percent | Morgan County Citizen Online Posted using ShareThis

Newest GOP gubernatorial candidate contributes $2 million to his own campaign

In my many stops in the last two decades as a newspaper reporter, there was none prettier than that of the county seat of Morgan County: Madison, Georgia. There is even a smaller neighboring postcard of a town called Rutledge which may be the best kept secret in terms of trying to find a place with an old fashion soda fountain pharmacy. The lovely private school Rutledge Academy is there and not a whole more. Rutledge makes Bostwick look big. One of the residents of this lovely village now wants to be the Republican nominee for Governor of Georgia. I can imagine that he will at the very least make the G.O.P. gubernatorial debates a bit more interesting to say the least.  I would also imagine he is not going to generate much traction outside of the Tea Party realm. So I guess we can expect lots of glowing columns from Rob Peecher in his father's local newspaper about this candidate? One of the more interesting wild cards in the Georgia Republican race for their nomination woul...
