Farmington house UNDER CONTRACT

Congrats to Dr. Glenn Sincerely,  Dan Matthews From: tonyglenn@gmail.com To: tonyglenn@gmail.com Subject: UPDATE: Farmington house UNDER CONTRACT! Date: Mon, 11 Feb 2013 19:46:29 -0500 Figured I'd update folks…….after only a week on the market, I have a contract on my house!  I don't want to jinx my good luck, but I couldn't be more pleased.  Two competing offers were submitted on Saturday, and after a final deadline for "highest and best", I accepted an offer that was 5% above the list price.  A very fortunate scenario that I never dreamed possible.  So now I'm frantically looking for a new place! Thanks everyone for all the comments I've received on Farmington.  It truly is a unique and beautiful home that I'm proud to have experienced.  And I especially want to thank Scott Nichols, my realtor.  He's been fantastic.  If you are ever selling or buying, this is the guy you want to use. Keep your fin...

"The Gathering," also April 26 Moore's Ford banquet

To reply, please use richrusk@charter.net Please Attend April 26 Moore's Ford Scholarship Banquet Dear folks,    Final call for attending our April 26 banquet. We've got at least 45 finalists and their guests coming, but we could use more Moore's Ford people to bear witness. We had 47 applications this year, a record number.    My apologies for running late with invitations. Have been busy with rentals this Spring and working on global climate change - a new focus for me.    But please know...the Moore's Ford Memorial Committee still lives. Our scholarship program is alive and growing.       In addition, at our May 12 meeting, we will review a proposal to co-host, with others, "The Gathering," yet another meeting of grass roots, memorial groups from around the country that have successfully revisited and memorialized their own histories of racial violence. This meeting will occur in Georgia. ...

DON'T MISS MFMC Xmas party TONIGHT, DEC. 10!

I am not even sure if I am attending this year due to a lingering cold I have had for the last fortnight. I hope for continued recovery. Apparently there is something of an epidemic decimating local school sports teams, too. Woven brightly,  Daniel J. Travelling circus hosts rare acts and unusual professions - Variety

I am a little conflicted about the circus coming to town (or county). I believe they are certainly entitled to make their living, but I just wish they would take better care of their animal acts. There have been a bazillion free tickets floating around so I can only imagine how many other things they are going to hawk on the grounds of the Heritage Park near Farmington this week. This article is in today's Red and Black newspaper on campus at UGA. Travelling circus hosts rare acts and unusual professions - Variety

Farmington Community meeting & BOC news

Farmington deserves our support. Please attend this meeting Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at the Farmington Community Center. Woven brightly, Daniel J. Matthews, Jr. Date: Tue, 26 May 2009 09:07:23 -0700 From: southoconee@yahoo.com Subject: Farmington Community meeting & BOC news To: aglenn@uga.edu Hello all, A Farmington Community meeting has been called for next Tuesday, June 2nd at 7:00 p.m. in the Farmington Community Center. My understanding is that the main objective of the meeting is to address how the Farmington Community Center is currently managed and operated.  That's all I know at the moment. Since this facility is used by many individuals and groups throughout Oconee County, I encourage everyone to attend if possible. On another note, many of you may be interested in reading Lee Becker's current blog post concerning recent county government meetings that occurred without required public notice. http://oconeecountyobservations.blogspot.com/ Regards, Tony Glenn

Tony is cycling from Athens to Savannah

Dr. Glenn is a friend and an inspiration for his perspiration and drive (by pedaling!) I would urge everyone to donate what they can afford for this amazing endeavor. Trip of a lifetime indeed! Woven brightly, Daniel J. Matthews, Jr. Subject: Tony is cycling from Athens to Savannah Date: Thu, 9 Apr 2009 10:30:55 -0400 From: Anthony.Glenn@ARS.USDA.GOV To: aglenn@uga.edu As many of you know, I will be cycling from Athens to Savannah on May 1st and 2nd.  212 miles in two days......all by bicycle ! This trip serves two functions.  Personally, it is one of those "life" trips.....the kind of thing you do as a mental and physical challenge.  But most importantly, I'm doing this as part of a fundraiser for Clarke Middle School in Athens.    See the attachment for more details on this fundraiser, including how donations have aided a wide array of programs at CMS. I'm asking my friends to "join" me on this journey, but yo...

Farmington fends off thrid attempt at unwanted truck stop in their midset

Will this last? When will another entirely inappropriate development come along to make South Oconee County less rural and more congested>

Truck stop just will not go away

Ever have a mosquito buzzing around your ear? You keep trying to swat it.......and trying...........and trying..........but it just keeps buzzing around waiting for its chance to suck your blood. Leaving you with an ugly bump that itches and irritates long after the mosquito is gone. Well our mosquito is back once more. Take a look at the front page of this week's Oconee Enterprise. Mr. Francis Williams has filed suit against the BOC for its denial of his rezone request for the corner of US441 and Branch Road. I only have time for a quick email since I am heading out the door for a weekend meeting in North Carolina. I'll be back in touch early next week. While a unanimous denial of this rezone by the BOC would on its surface appear to mean that they are willing to stand by this decision, even if sued, this may not be the case. This BOC has a history of arranging out-of-court settlements. Such settlements are another cause we must stand up and fight against. We, the citize...
