Guts

Friend -- "This is a threat to our democracy...And if we just stand by and allow the special interests to silence anybody who's got the guts to stand up to them, our country's going to be a very different place." That's what the President just said about the Chamber of Commerce, a right-wing group spending $75 million to beat Democrats this fall, and reportedly taking money from foreign corporations -- some even owned by foreign governments. These groups are trying to buy our elections, backing candidates who want to tear down everything that makes the middle class strong in this country: things like Medicare, Social Security, even the minimum wage. Donations are pouring in from the President's and First Lady's notes this week, but we all need to do what we can to stop this threat to our democracy. Will you chip in $3 right now? Your gift will be matched by a fellow supporter who is just as dedicated as you are. There's no cavalry to h...

From now until November, I need you in the game

Image
Friend -- I come into this election with clear eyes. I am proud of all we have achieved together, but I am mindful of all that remains to be done. I know some out there are frustrated by the pace of our progress. I want you to know I'm frustrated, too. But with so much riding on the outcome of this election, I need everyone to get in this game. Neither one of us is here because we thought it would be easy. Making change is hard. It's what we've said from the beginning. And we've got the lumps to show for it. The fight this fall is as critical as any this movement has taken on together. And if we are serious about change, we need to fight as hard as we ever have. The very special interests who have stood in the way of change at every turn want to put their conservative allies in control of Congress. And they're doing it with the help of billionaires and corporate special interests underwriting shadowy campaign ads. If they succeed, they will not stop...

South Georgia is about to get reamed by the supposed GOP onslaught

I live in North Georgia. I am obviously a Democratic party supporter. However, I do not want one party or one region of the state to dominate our State's infrastructure. Get out the vote Macon, Albany, Tifton, Cordele, Columbus, Waycross, Valdosta, Moultrie and Dublin, or it is the end of any direct influence on Georgia's governmental policy. I think Savannah and Dublin would remain relatively Democratic, but North Georgia residents need to realize that power concentrated up yonder is not a good thing for them either. I got the power! | Blogs.OnlineAthens.com
