Horses could be off and running in Georgia by 2013  | ajc.com

This is a topic that could continue the gold mine locally. Oconee County has a strong equine community and just imagine if we had our own Churchill Downs here. This also could be a way to keep the Georgia economy growing locally as well. Suzy Compere was ahead of her time with this topic. Horses could be off and running in Georgia by 2013 | ajc.com

Oconee Well Drillers - Watkinsville, GA

An important and founding industry in Oconee County. Happy to share. This is my Christmas gift to them for all that they have done for Oconee County, Georgia. Many locals have earned a great deal of money with this business. I salute them for their role in developing Watkinsville and surrounding areas.

Doug McKillip switches the location of his fundraiser

In a move following suit with his recent party change, State Rep. Doug McKillip is switching the city and location of his fundraiser to Six Feet Seafood Restaurant at 685 11th Street, Atlanta, GA 30318. This was from the infamous letter sent out a week before he decided to abandon the Democratic Party and join the majority. I believe that earlier invitation was for his law office on Milledge Avenue in Athens. My only hope is McKillip can stop a constitutional majority from passing some really ridiculous legislation. And we have the only Pro-Choice Republican south of New York City.

Officials set to choose transit tax projects || OnlineAthens.com

It is great that Oconee County's SPLOST funds would ostensibly double, and I would suggest extra lanes on 316 between the loop and the Oconee Connector, or at least repair the shoulders so there are no truck swallowing potholes remaining on the inside shoulder. Athens-Clarke needs to widen the on ramp from Prince to the 10 Loop as it is a death trap as currently laid out with one of the two turn lanes disappearing less than 100 yards from the stoplight. What are we going to do now?

Dear all interested Oconee County open minded individuals: Time to explain and not complain. What can we do together to make Oconee County a better place? We can identify the problems and offer solutions. I have been on vacation during the initial round of emails going down on this, but let me assure everyone of all several things first. 1. The Oconee County Democratic Party exists because of the hard work of several individuals, and we welcome input from everyone.  It is very easy to snipe from the outside and make snarky comments on listservs, but it is much more difficult to regularly attend actual meetings and let your voice be heard as to offer practical answers to every day problems. 2. I challenge each of you to come up with your own list of five problems directly vexing Oconee County residents, and also attempt to solve their list of topics that make life more difficult for all of us. 3. Some people seem to think our meetings are nothing more than...
