Reflections of one wacky campaign season

I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the campaign trail against Chuck Williams and the others, some more than others, but I was always welcomed with open arms at every venue, home and business in the 113th District. I congratulate the new Representative and wish him the very best in conducting the people's business in Special Session. I expect to be posting about this and many other snippets in the days and weeks to come. It was interesting how this blog became an issue in the campaign with the coordinated public relations character assassination on a national scale a few hours before the second debate. Death became an issue as my father died in November and Chuck Williams' late mother passed in October, who to the best of my knowledge I have not met and did not know and have nothing but respect for, were brought up in various places and spaces. Mr. Williams claimed his mother would have burned the truck down in about two days if she were still alive. I told Tim Bryant of my ...

Ivie to run for mayor in Watkinsville || OnlineAthens.com

So who knows the inside skinny on Mr. Ivie?

Charles Ivie is the first person to come forward and announce that he will run for mayor of Watkinsville. “All my life I have been interested in politics,” said Ivie. “I have often thought that when I retired I would offer for a council post. I have no aspirations to go beyond the mayor’s office.” Ivie is in his 32nd year as a representative for Baldwin Filters, a company based in Nebraska. But he said he would be retired by January, when the term will begin. Ivie previously served on the town council of Watkinsville. Born in Farmington, he has lived in Oconee County all of his life, and he has lived in his current home for 40 years. Watkinsville Mayor Joe Walter announced at the most recent council meeting that he was not going to run for reelection.

THE SIGN NEEDS DRIVERS!

Begin forwarded message: From: Patsy Harris < patsydudney@yahoo.com > Date: July 10, 2011 12:38:10 PM EDT To: undisclosed recipients: ; Subject: THE SIGN NEEDS DRIVERS! Hello Clarke, Morgan, Oglethorpe, and Oconee County Democrats! Check this out! One is a photo of Dan's new campaign sign, 20 feet long, and over ten feet high! The other file shows what is printed on both sides. I drove this Isuzu yesterday 40 miles around this district. Air conditioned, good radio, CD player. Drives so easily! The signs totally dwarf our opponent's little Ford truck signs. And we need more responsible drivers to take her for a spin! Can you pledge two, three, four hours during the next ten days to keep these signs in the voters' eyes and minds? Spreading out the driving time among more drivers would certainly make it easy and effective. Call Dan 706 372 1062 or me. We are democrats. Let's elect one!
