Fresh Pottery...Right Outta the Oven

Fresh pottery is always in high demand here in the Artland of Georgia From: Pastures Rose Creek <pastures1051@gmail.com Date: 03/06/2013 5:57 PM (GMT-05:00) ; Subject: Fresh Pottery...Right Outta the Oven! Hello everyone!  It's here, it's here!  The moment that so many of you have been anticipating (and I almost forgot to send out!)....the 3rd batch of pottery from John's anagama kiln will be ceremoniously unloaded this Saturday, March 9 from 12:00-1:00 pm....1941 Colham Ferry Road (We're the little fixer upper with the red scarf tied to the mail box...unloading is behind the metal sheds) . Many of you may ask - what the heck is a kiln unloading?  Or better yet, those of you who drive down Colham Ferry Road may often wonder what the heck that big, brick furnace-y oven thing is that's been burping plumes of smoke and flame every 3 minutes for the past 3 days.... Well, first of all, the over sized pizza oven is actually John's hand...

Oh No, Georgia - let Chuck Williams know a "no" is requested on HB 282 preventing local control over High Speed Internet access

Image
I just called twice and spoke with a nice young man named Tyler who was very polite. From: "Josh Levy, FreePress.net" info@freepress.net To: Dan Matthews  Sent: Tuesday, March 5, 2013 11:54 AM Subject: Oh No, Georgia Your Message Subject or Title Urgent: Tell  Rep. Williams to  vote "NO" on the Municipal Broadband Investment Act. Dan, An awful bill in Georgia could prevent communities from building their own high-speed Internet networks. We may have less than a week to stop it. So who supports the deceptively named Municipal Broadband Investment Act (HB 282)? Exactly who you might suspect: cable and phone monopolies that too often fail to serve the communities that need broadband access the most. Call Rep. Williams at  (404) 656-0254 and demand a "NO" vote on the Municipal Broadband Investment Act (HB 282) Many communities across the nation have done a great job of creating their...

Andrea Griffith and Nick Coltrain go "Beyond the Headlines" of Ernest P. Boland molestation story

Image
I am glad the Banner-Herald newspaper  and in specific, editor Andrea Griffith and writer Nick Coltrain discuss the origins of this important story. However their description of the background of this predator is not complete. Boland wrote a letter to the editor of the newspaper a few weeks prior to the Oregon Supreme Court's "perversion files" decision describing how Congressman Paul Broun was above contempt and no one without Boland's military credentials could criticize the current US Senate candidate. Also, even just a quick view of Griffith and Coltrain talking would have done a lot for this piece. All in all, however, an important look back at a monster and the society that let it happen. There are many more chips to fall in this story.
