Why do Republicans seem to think it is OK to double dip at the expense of Georgia taxpayers? From: "Bryan Long, Better Georgia" < bryan@bettergeorgia.com > Subject: Two jobs - new audio uncovered in Chip Rogers scandal. Date: May 1, 2014 at 9:55:19 AM EDT Reply-To: bryan@bettergeorgia.com   Chip Rogers worked a second   full-time   job while he collected $150,000 from Georgia Public Broadcasting and Georgia taxpayers like you. We are outraged, but we're not surprised. Gov. Deal believes this is how government should be run. In Gov. Deal's Georgia, giving away $150,000 of your tax dollars to solve his political problem is peanuts compared to ignoring a $74 million tax debt from one of his business partners. And collecting side income from a private business while serving Georgians? Gov. Deal does that, too. He's the landlord to one of the state's largest corporate tax debtors. Gov. Deal and his business partner collect $20,000 i...

Nathan Deal forgets about Putnam Cty. Sheriff's letter addressing concerns about "guns everywhere" law

When we asked Gov. Nathan Deal about the half-dozen or so letters he received from sheriffs warning that the sweeping new gun bill could cause them a host of new legal problems and lead to more bloodshed, the governor said, “I have not had those concerns expressed to me.” One of those sheriffs, Howard Sills of Putnam County, informed us of a rather gaping hole in Deal’s argument. He passes along a letter signed by Deal on April 16 that thanks him for his opinion and says he will “keep in mind the counsel you have offered me.” “I appreciate you making me aware of your interest in this matter, and if I can be of any further assistance to you, please feel free to contact me again,” Deal said in the letter. Sills said in an interview that he was hopeful Deal would heed the advice from sheriffs who raised alarms about the sweeping new measure. Their biggest worry involves a part of the bill that bans police from demanding to see the weapons permit of someone carrying a gun...
