DPG Chair Addresses Comments Made by RNC Chair

Today, Democratic Party of Georgia Chair DuBose Porter responded to comments made by Republican National Committee Chair Reince Pribus at a Cobb County GOP event. At the event, Priebus stated “Under Governor Deal’s leadership, Georgia has created jobs, balanced budgets and even branded number one for business in America. So if you want jobs, vote republican. If you want better healthcare, cheaper energy, better schools, vote republican.” “If Reince’s comments weren’t so delusional, they’d be laughable,” said DPG Chairman Porter in a statement. “Just this week, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics issued a report showing Georgia having the 50 th worst unemployment rate in the country. On Deal’s watch, our classrooms have lost 9,000 teachers. Georgia’s hospitals are shutting down left and right due to lack of funding.” “Maybe instead of reading some of Nathan Deal’s campaign literature on his ride in, Reince should have picked up a paper. The facts are out there...

Detrick Favors arrested in plot to kidnap himself

Image
Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Detrick Fernandez Favors (41) of Brown Road on one count of Conspiracy to Commit Theft by Extortion; Making a False Statement. A bench warrant was issued after evidence was presented to a grand jury and an indictment was returned. The charge stems from Favors being complicit in his own "kidnapping" on November 18, 2013. The kidnapping was an attempt to get ransom money from the victim with Favors and the "kidnappers" intending to split the ransom money. Several of the other participants in this conspiracy have already been convicted for their part in the crime. Favors was arrested on August 19, 2014 when Oconee County Sheriff Investigators learned that he was in Athens attempting to renew his driver's license. They called the Georgia State Patrol Athens Post, and GSP Corporal C.E. Parker took favors into custody on the warrant. Allison Norwood commented on this.

TONHS July Notes from Fred

Dear Fellow High Shoalers,                                                                August 17, 2014 October 8 th is International Walk to School Day.  Sidewalks to the school would be a nice way for us to participate.  Since we don't have them, YET, perhaps we could walk from the city park.  Did you know there is a back path in our park that leads to a gate in the behind HSES?  Since the Council did get speed bumps installed in front of the park traffic should be slower there for you to pull in. Yes, the Council did get two speed bumps installed along Hillsboro Road.  Things have started to slow down there.  Maybe a couple more th...
