Atlanta Hawks Offering Refunds Due To Winter Storm

Image
Some obsessed basketball fanatic decided that curtsied was not good enough Friday, no, you had to go for two in row when your buddy Steve offered up a couple of freebies. So we hopped on the Lindbergh station MARTA train after trudging through ice. Oh yeah and there was this on Friday. We missed the movie Selma, but we did see Rev. Joseph Lowery, Rev. C.T. Vivien, Mrs. Abernathy, and Ambassador Andrew Young and Congressman John Lewis. My new crusade is to allow Atlanta traffic on the HOV lanes during weather emergencies, as well as opening the MARTA gates and giving out those damn Breeze cards for free. If Cobb County has any sense they will build some train right to the new Braves stadium. Atlanta Hawks Offering Refunds Due To Winter Storm

Road project will detour Simonton Bridge, Whitehall Road traffic beginning in May

This is my worst commuting nightmare come true, and it will add about 20 minutes a day and countless miles to my 4x a day jaunt from Morgan Manor Estates to the Saye/Metropolitan buildings in downtown Athens. Road project will detour Simonton Bridge, Whitehall Road traffic beginning in May

Thank the workers at the Board of Elections if you advance vote

The Oconee County Board of Elections is located in a small unremarkable cinder block building in the curve on Water Street near the Oconee County Courthouse. Today I braved the elements to be the sixth voter to cast a ballot in the Alcohol referendum with the exact verbiage: CITY OF WATKINSVILLE Alcohol Referendum (Vote for One) "Shall the governing authority of Watkinsville be authorized to issue licenses to sell distilled spirits for beverage purposes by the drink, such sales to be for consumption only on the premises?" I wholeheartedly endorse and otherwise urge all Watkinsville residents to vote YES on this referendum, and to do it as quickly as possible 8-5 weekdays for the next two weeks, or otherwise on Tuesday, March 17th (St. Patrick's Day). I appreciate the many talents of the people who work in there, and their sense of humor in the face of the absurd. And if voting on the near exact same words in November 2014 and again on March 2015 is...

Oconee County earns bragging rights since it has the highest percentage of people over 25 years with a graduate degree (22.06 percent).
