Pictures of people putting flags in the ground at North Oconee 9/11/2017

I must admit I had a little apprehension about the flag planting ceremony in commemoration of the events of September 11, 2001 at North Oconee High School. My trepidation was misplaced however, and everyone was welcome, even my dog Katrina, North Oconee High School teacher Kirk Shook invited me specifically and was very busy organizing a very well run show out at the school in Bogart. No one asked my political affiliation, and I saw one Make America Great Again shirt (I say it is already great) and one Kemp for Governor shirt. There was one girl wearing a traditional Muslim head wear and no one shouted any profanities or raised an eyebrow to my point of view. I wore my Come Home America shirt from the George S. McGovern school from Dakota Wesleyan. There were people of color and at least several candidates and elected officials besides myself. Again nothing but kudos for Mr. Shook and Oconee County Republican Committee chair Tammy Gilland and all the students at No...

Bi-partisan 9/11 flag planting volunteer opportunity

I wanted to let you know about the 9/11 Project that a new club at North Oconee High School is doing. On Sept. 10th, we are honoring the victims of the terrorist attacks on 9/11 by placing 2,977 flags in the front lawn of the school. We are reaching out to the community to get them involved as this is a non-partisan event that we hope can bring the community--Democrats and Republicans, conservatives and liberals together. There is a piece running in the Oconee Enterprise on this on Thursday.  I hope that some of your group can be there--some from the Republican Party have committed to being here to help us place flags on Sunday.  We are meeting at 6pm in front of North Oconee High School.  Please let me know if you guys can make a donation to this effort or help in volunteering. Thank you for your time! -- Kirk Shook Master of Public Administration, UGA '13 North Oconee High School AP Macroeconomics/Sociology Mock Trial Coach ...
